Soldiers' wives do their bit to pep morale

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
NEW DELHI, JULY 4: As the armed forces are engaged in an intense operation to flush out Pakistani intruders from Kargil, their wives are playing a supporting role by making efforts to arrange the non-military items for the soldiers on the battle-front and those injured in action.

The wives of the armed forces personnel under the banners of Army Wives Welfare Association and Air Force Wives Welfare Association have risen to the occasion to meet the requirements that come from the front and the military hospitals where the wounded soldiers are undergoing treatment.

"Our attempt is to do something for the soldiers who are shedding blood for the country. We want them to feel that we are behind them and ready to give all kinds of support," says AFWWA president Molina Tipnis, wife of Chief of Air Staff A Y Tipnis.
