Tiger Hill recaptured
Tiger Hill, the 4,660 metre strategic mountain position from which Pakistani soldiers dominated the Srinagar-Leh highway in Drass sector, was recaptured after a surprise three-pronged attack launched by the 18 Grenadiers, an Army spokesman said. President K. R. Narayanan hailed the recapture of Tiger Hill and said it was a moment of great pride for the entire nation.

PM turns down US proposal
Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee has turned down an invitation from US President Bill Clinton to visit Washington for discussing the Kargil conflict. Clinton called up the PM yesterday and Vajpayee told him it was not ``convenient'' for him to visit at this juncture.
