Girls flock to Picnic Antakshri audition

CHANDIGARH, JULY 4: The team of Picnic Antakshri -- a musical show on DD-1 -- hosted by actor and director Sachin and playback singer Sanjeevini (of Kabeer fame) was in the city for two days -- for selection of participants for their show.

Girls constituted a mammoth 70 per cent of the participants for the audition. They were on the hunt for good singers, who also have a good knowledge of films. The auditions took place at DAV School, Sector 8. The response was good, with about 200 potential singers coming for audition, and a few were selected right away said one of the team members. While the youngest candidate was six and a half years old, the oldest was 50. The production manager of the show, Srikant Shukla, said there was no age bar, and they were just on the lookout for good singing talent. They have selected three cities for their present round of the show, for which shooting is to take place from July 22 to 25 at Delhi. The selection of the three cities of Chandigarh, Lucknow and Kanpur has been done on the basis of Television Rating Points report's response.

The scenes are to be shot in jungle set. A total of 13 episodes will be shot, and which include some special episodes on Independence Day, Diwali and Children's Day. An inter-city competition will also be held. And said that the best would be chosen.

During the audition, the selection team asked the aspirants to sing a song of their choice, sing a given situational song as asked by the team and a song sung by a leading pair. The selection of persons will be confirmed by post, he added.
