Chahal expelled from Samajwadi Party
The local unit president of Samajwadi Party, Shivi Jaiswal, has expelled Amar Singh Chahal, a primary member of the party, who also contested the 1998 Lok Sabha polls on the party ticket. Announcing his expulsion from the party for a period of six years for anti-party activities, Jaiswal said in Chandigarh, he has been expelled with the approval of the party high command.

Natwar Singh to visit city on July 7
Former Union Minister and former diplomat Natwar Singh would be in the city on July 7, to deliver a talk on India's foreign policy and the situation in Kargil. He would also address a "Meet the Press" programme at the Chandigarh Press Club.

Balmiki Sabha holds meeting
The Chandigarh Balmiki Sabha, in a meeting held at Panchayat Bhawan here today, criticised the UT Administration for harassing the Scheduled Castes while issuing SC ceritificates. The Sabha also criticised the administration for asking for residential proof from the SCs. The meeting also discussed other demands of the members of the Sabha. Courts shift to new premisesn THE local courts will be shifting to new premises, Judicial Complex, in Sector 1, Panchkula, on July 5. The building was recently inaugurated by Haryana Chief Minister Bansi Lal.

Pedestrian hurt
Mohan Lal was injured when he was hit by a truck near Ramgarh. The police have registered a case. In another incident, a rehri was badly damaged when it was hit by a truck near Raipur Rani. A complaint was lodged by Singh Ram at the Raipur Rani Police Station.

Three arrested
The Pinjore Police have arrested three persons, Surinder, Shankar and Haripal, for gambling in public place. A case has been registered against them. In Kalka, Constable Ram Avtar was found drunk while on duty and sent to the Police Lines in Panchkula after medical examination, the police sources said.
