VADODARA, July 4: The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) contributed Rs 15 crores to the National Defence Fund for the war-affected Indian armed forces' personnel and families of those who died while fighting in the Kargil sector.In addition, the ONGC employees also donated a day's salary -- amounting to over Rs 1.2 crores -- for the welfare of the families of those soldiers engaged in protecting the Indian borders from enemy intrusion.
Going a step further, the employees of Gandhar Oil Field Camp, ONGC -- under the inspiration and guidance of L C Jain, Location Manager and and P N Zutshi, DGM (Logistics) -- contributed an additional sum of Rs 31,144 to the `Kargil Disabled Soldiers' Fund'. The employees were ably motivated by A K Srivastava and V P Pandey.
ONGC employees, Ahmedabad Project, too contributed a sum of Rs 1,71,152 for the cause of rehabilitating the injured, disabled and members of bereaved families.
All-Religion Prayer Meet: To show their solidarity with the Indian Armed Forces' personnel fighting in the Kargil sector, an `All-Religion Prayer Meet' was organised at the ONGC Officers' Club, Vadodara to pray for the martyrs and as well as the well-being of those posted at the borders and their families.
Talking on the occasion, Executive Director N Lal said, ``We need to tremendously imbibe from the relentless dedication and determination, these soldiers exhibit, while performing their duty.'' Lal also announced the donation of one day's salary of the employees for the National Defence Fund on the occasion.
The prayer was followed by a `Tree Plantation' organised by the ONGC Officers' Club as a befitting tribute for the martyrs.
Gazal Night: Newly formed executive council of Officers' Club, Vadodara were introduced to the general council of the members, which was followed by a cultural evening. While renowned gazal singer Vijay Pathak performed on the occasion, Executive Director N Lal was the chief guest of the programme.
