EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
Three people go missing
Three people, including a married couple, were reported missing from the Varachha and Limbayat areas of the city on Sunday. Mohan Bhana Rathod, a resident of Baroda Pristage in Varachha, told the police that Ashok Mohan Rathod (24) and his wife Jayshree Ashok Rathod (20) are missing since Saturday evening. They had informed family members that they were going to Chowpatty in the Athwalines area and have not returned since.

In another case registered at the Limbayat police station, 19-year old Pratibha Ajay Jarve, a married woman, is missing since Saturday afternoon. Husband Ajay Babu Jarve, a resident of Dayanand Park, Limbayat, told the police that she had gone at around 1:30 in the afternoon to dispose of the garbage and did not return. The police have begun investigations into the cases after registering non cognisable offences.

PASA arrest
Two persons were arrested by the Prevention of Crime Branch for illegally storing and supplying Indian Made Foreign Liquor and booked under the Prevention of Anti Social Activities (PASA) Act on Sunday. Manhar Lallu Kapadia and Kusum Keshav Rana -- both residents of Navsarjan Society, Udhna-Magdalla Road -- were sent to the Bhavnagar and Sabarmati jails respectively to serve sentences. A PCB release said that the two accused were habitual offenders of the Prohibition Act.

Knocked down
Dinesh Babu Patel (20), a resident of a slum outside Sahara Darwaja, was fatally knocked down by an unidentified vehicle early on Sunday morning. A complaint lodged by Ramila Patel, the victim's mother, said the boy was sleeping on the roadside when a vehicle ran over his head. Dinesh died on the spot. The Salabatpura police have registered a case under sections of the IPC and MVA and are investigating further.
