Bhagyashree equals Indian rating record

Kozhikode, July 4: International Master R B Ramesh of PSCB and International Woman Master Bhagyashree Thipsay are the main beneficiaries from India in the July rating released by World chess Federation (Fide). R B Ramesh, who had a rating of 2,390 in the January list, earned 84 Elo points to reach 2,474 for fifth place in the Indian list behind Viswanathan Anand, Dibyendu Barua, Krishnan Sasikiran and Pravin Thipsay. Atanu Lahiri, who won the Commonwealth championship, also improved his rating to 2,395.Bhagyashree Thipsay equalled an Indian record when she touched a rating of 2,335, which Vijayalakshmi Subburaman had posted last year. Bhagyashree, who was on 2,237 at the start of the year, improved by 98 points on the strength of her performances in the Asian Zonals and Commonwealth Championships.
