Shekhar Khanna strikes a brace

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, July 4: A brace by striker Shekhar Khanna in the early minutes of the game enabled Youngmen Sports Club to register a 2-0 victory over Youngsters in a group-II match of DSA-SAIL Senior Division Football League Championship at Ambedkar Stadium here today.

Youngmen, combining well from the start through medios Bhupinder Negi and Amit, made inroads into Youngsters' goal-area which paid dividends in the second minute when striker Shekhar Khanna struck in a goal-mouth melee. Again in the sixth minute, he increased the lead off a back volley which stunned Youngsters' custodian Inderjeet Sharma.

On changing ends, Youngsters came back with spirit and thwarted Youngmen's Bhupinder Sharma and Parveen onslaughts. Youngsters forwards Narinder Kumar and Raj Kumar muffed easy chances in the later stages of the game. Former champions Moghals Sports Club were held to a goalless draw by Delhi Police to share points.

In `A' division matches of group-II, group leaders Royal Rangers were held to a 2-2 draw by B.B. Stars in a well-contested match. Royal Rangers took the lead in the 10th minute through Deepak Robinson which was equalised in the 12th minute through Ajay Kumar. Royal Rangers' Ricky put his side 2-1 ahead in the 15th minute which was equalised by B.B. Stars' Ajay Kumar in the 40th minute.

In another match, Lodhi A.C. were held to a goalless draw by Garhwal Diamond. In `B' Division, Gulabi Bagh and Y.B.A. failed to turn up against Cosmos and NJN.
