Prakash Yadav in judicial custody

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, JULY 5: Prakash Yadav, accused in the shootout case in a South Delhi Club in Greater Kailash on June 30, has been remanded to fourteen days' judicial custody. Yadav, son of the former union minister of Chemicals and Fertilisers, Ram Lakhan Yadav, is also accused in the Rs 133-crore urea scam. Prior to this case Yadav was out on bail for his alleged involvement in the scam.

Yadav had surrendered on Saturday at the Greater Kailash police station after his anticipatory bail application was rejected by a sessions court. He was accompanied by his lawyer, Raj Kumar Yadav. Prakash is also learnt to have surrendered his licensed revolver.

Yadav has been charged for attempt to murder and under the Arms Act. He is also a diabetic and is to be given insulin injections.

On Sunday, in court, his lawyer moved an application, requesting Duty Magistrate Poonam Chaudhary to direct the jail authorities to allow Yadav to carry the injections inside. The public prosecutor, Aslam Khan, objected to this, suggesting that the decision of the jail doctor on the matter should be followed.

Yadav also moved an application for getting the subedari of his car, which the police has confiscated.

The shootout was somewhat similar to the Jessica Lal case. According to the police, Prakash Singh walked into the club with his companion, Rajinder Aggarwal at around 2:30 p.m. The drinks section was closed, yet the duo continued to drink outdoors. Security guard Bhagwan Singh asked Prakash to leave after around three hours but he reportedly refused.
