1 dies, 4 take ill after consuming spurious liquor

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE  
MUMBAI, JULY 5: A 40-year-old man died and four others took seriously ill after consuming spurious countrymade liquor at Matunga late last night.

According to police, Narendra Shivlal Kanojia took ill after consuming spurious liquor near his residence at Rajendra Prasad Nagar, Matunga. He died while undergoing treatment at LMT Hospital, Sion, police said.

While Chotelal Kanojia (50), Noor Mohammed Khan (40) and Som Bahadur Singh (50) have been admitted to Sion Hospital, Feroz Mokshi (20) has been shifted to KEM Hospital, Parel, for detoxification procedures, hospital sources said.

Matunga police, under whose jurisdiction the incident took place, have arrested Anju Anil Gawde for selling the spurious liquor.
