Fingers crossed for second mock black-out today

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
VADODARA, JULY 5: All necessary arrangements have been made for Tuesday's blackout for which the alert would be set off at 10.30 p.m.

Deputy controller, Civil defence, Kishore Surti said that keeping in view the flaws which were noticed during the last blackout exercise, adequate arrangements had been made to ensure a complete blackout this time. Surti appealed to residents to switch off their lights when the alarm was set off at 10.30 p.m.

He said that the administration had rectified all the sirens in the city and unlike last time, the traffic police and all police inspectors would be involved in the exercise. Surti said that the traffic police would ensure that vehicles moving during the exercise turned off their headlights.

The policemen would ensure that all lari gallas switched off their lanterns following the alert. He said that in order to remove last-minutes glitches, civil defence officials would hold a meeting at 5 p.m. on Tuesday.
