Court stay on sale of APS Star premises
A city court on Monday stayed the move of the management of APS Star, which shut down recently, to sell its machinery and business premises. The order follows a petition by 600 company workers, who've become jobless following the closure. The court directed the company not to sell it machinery, manufactured goods, tools, dyes, furniture and some vehicles lying in the company's Makarpura premises. The court issued notices to the management of the company and fixed the next date of hearing for July 8.IPCL wins award
Indian Petrochemicals Corporation Limited has won the prestigious safety award from British Safety Council for the third consecutive year. The company has also achieved 94 per cent reduction in accident incident rate in the group of industries placed under `Manufacture of Chemicals and Chemical Products' in 1998, an official release said here on Monday. The company also achieved the five-star rating as part of safety management audit carried out by the Council, the release added.

Retired engineer Jasbhai Patel, who fought for the rights of engineers as president of the Gujarat State Assistant Engineers' Association, was felicitated by Narmada and Heavy Irrigation Projects Minister Jai Narayan Vyas at the association's silver jubilee function in Gandhinagar recently.

The Gujarat Rural Institute For Socio-Economic Reconstruction, Vadodara, a non-government organisation, has been given the 1996 Indira Priyadarshini Vrikshamitra Award, which is instituted by the National Afforestation and Eco-Development Board. .
