Four warrants issued in abduction case

VADODARA, JULY 5: The Detection of Crime Branch on Monday issued publicwarrants to the four people accused of kidnapping city-based businessmanGovind Surtani and ordered them to surrender before the police in the next48 hours, failing which they would be declared fugitives.

The public warrants were issued to builder Ishwar Jigyasi, local newspaperphotographer Vallabh Shah, one Daulat and one Mahesh, all of whom have beenevading the police net in this case. Incidentally, the four are also accusedin the murder of Sindhi businessman Bhagwandass Meghwani.

Meanwhile, the DCB detained Govind Surtani's son Mahesh, and said he wasbeing questioned in the hope of more light on the case.

The local crime branch on Saturday had arrested brother of a kidnappedbusinessman, Bishan Dass Pritam Dass, for lodging a false abductioncomplaint against three persons Rajesh Tamatar, Lachu Buria and RajeshPainter. He has been remanded to police custody by a city court for tendays.

Police confessed that it was becoming increasingly difficult to crack thecase and said that they had no fresh leads on the whereabouts of thekidnapped businessman. ``So far, we haven't been able to obtain leads thatcan give us an idea about his whereabouts'', an officer said.
