DCB raids house, arrest gamblers
The Detection of Crime Branch raided a house in Bhestan on the city's outskirts and arrested six people for gambling. Rs 30,200 in cash was recovered from the six, who have been booked under sections of the Prevention of Gambling Act. The DCB team raided Naajuddin Kaji's house in Ganeshkrupa Society on a tip-off and arrested him along with Govind Kadiya from Un village, Aadil Shaikh from Pandesara, Babu Patel from BRC Colony, Mehboobkhan Pathan from Un, Harish Jariwala from Shastrinagar and Gafur Patel from Udhna Road. Interrogation of the accused has revealed that Kaji had taken deposits from the others and they frequently met in his house and gambled.

Dying declaration
A 25-year-old married woman told the police in her dying declaration on Sunday night that she was physically and mentally harassed by her husband and relatives and forced to immolate herself. The Sachin police, who have registered a case, stated that her husband, father-in-law and brother-in-law had been questioned in the case. The woman doused kerosene and burnt herself on Sunday evening. She died at around midnight in the New Civil Hospital while being treated.

Hit-and-run
Bhargavi Anbatala, an eighteen-month-old girl, received severe head and body injuries when she was knocked down by an unidentified rickshaw opposite her house at Ambedkarnagar slum on Sunday evening. A complaint lodged by her mother Renuka Anbatala, originally from Andhra Pradesh and presently residing at Ambedkarnagar slum off Limbayat, said that the vehicle hit her daughter and escaped. Bhairavi has been admitted to the New Civil Hospital.
