Here's a two-in-one-treat coming by the way of two English plays. Sunday Costs Five Pesos is a one-act comedy set in a Mexican village where women love as fiercely as they fight, use language that is as colourful and pungent as the local cuisine.Vow! (let' hope it is not going to be as pungent as Orgazmo recently staged at the Holiday Inn!). In this play, a lovers' quarrel ensues between the fiery, quick-tongued Berta Canter and her sweetheart Fidel who is the best wood carver of the valley. Three pretty heads concoct a dramatic story to win back angry Fidel's affection.
The second play called Anybody for tea is a bizarre murder mystery involving a handsome and unattached officer in Homicide, six batty, old and enterprising spinsters, a can of rat poison and lethal cups of tea. This baffles O'Brian and his assistant, the scene of the crime being in the vicinity of O'Brian's home. The play is on July 18, at Nehru Memorial Hall, brought on stage by the Rotary Club of Poona Airport and the Poona Arts Theatre.
