Jeev Milkha finishes 29th

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, JULY 6: Jeev Milkha Singh continued to struggle with windy conditions on the second successive day as he returned a two-over 73 card to finish tied for the 29th place in the 1.4 million Euros Murphy's Irish Open, which concluded at the par-71 Glens Druid Golf Course, 10 miles south of Dublin, on Sunday.

According to information reaching here, Jeev shot two bogies on either half of his journey and a solitary eagle on the 522-yard par-5 11th hole to aggregate one-under 283 for the tournament.

It was a crushing blow for the Indian ace who was leading the tournament at one stage after 31 holes. It also jeopardised his chances of getting a direct entry into the British Open starting at Carnoutsie from July 15th.

Top five in the Order of Merit this season, after all the exemptions, get direct invitation to play the major championship. Jeev dropped to 27th in the Volvo European PGA Tour Order of Merit after the tournament. His last chance of getting a direct entry comes this week in the StandardLife Loch Lomond tournament which begins on Thursday.
