PUNE, JULY 5: The long awaited feeder centre, a main source to the BPL Badminton Academy at Bangalore, is set to become functional on Tuesday when Prakash Padukone would declare it open at the WIE Sports Complex, Shivajinagar .``We have selected 15 players, and they will be taken care by our sponsors, (BPL) and if all goes well we may start a few more centres around the country to promote the game,'' informed Prakash.
Although, it is a proud moment for the youngsters, Prakash with all sternness had a word of caution for their parents. ``I'm going to warn all parents to take up the activity seriously,'' this he says, is owing to players fizzling out once they attain their peak, and moreso when they come to a stage of choosing a career.
``The players should be well aware that after spending a couple of years in the academy they should not jump out when it comes to opting for academics. Moreover, if any player does have such plans its better off not joining,'' added Prakash Recalling one such incident, Padukone said, ``We did have such a case in Bangalore, but that is all. If we have to come up, one ought to be serious.''
When queried about player-bonds, Padukone said, ``There aren't any bonds ruling the player. Mutuality is the best bond in life, which in the long run works miracles.''
With Pune being a major contributor to the sport of badminton, a centre of this sought would give the game a bigger boost.
