Disabled soldiers may get imported artificial limbs

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, JULY 6: Soldiers who have lost their limbs in combat during Operation Vijay in Kargil will be fitted with imported state-of-the-art artificial limbs.

Sources say the Army has already taken up their case with the Government and the sanction is expected to arrive within the next few days.

A British firm is being approached for the supply of artificial limbs. Made of special light-weight material called endolite, these artificial limbs would have movable joints, enabling the wearer to walk virtually naturally. The cost for fitting the limbs, will be borne by the Government.
