CGCC issues warning on cheque books
The Central Gujarat Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday said that it had been informed by savings bank account-holders that banks were debiting the price of cheque books from their accounts without consulting them. A press release issued here said that the matter has been taken up with the Reserve Bank of India and the Indian Banks' Association. The IBA had said that 20-leaf cheque books were given free to account-holders after considering the stability of the deposit, the CGCC said. It advised all those affected to approach proper forum.Vehicles seized
The Detection of Crime Branch seized three vehicles -- a van and two auto-rickshaws -- believed to owned by the suspects in the Bhagwandas Meghwani murder case on Tuesday. The suspects are yet to give themselves up despite a warrant. Meanwhile, Bishan Pritamdas Surtani, who was arrested by the DCB for lodging a false FIR in connection with kidnapping of his brother Govindram, and threatening his wife, told investigators that he had done so at the behest of builder Ishwar Jigyasi.

Teacher arrested
Surat: Asif Shaikh, wanted by the police for the anti-national statements he made while teaching in a school, was arrested by the police in Valsad on Monday.
