VCCI to hold software seminar

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
VADODARA, July 6: The Vadodara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) will hold a day-long seminar on ``international software development processes: a Gujarat perspective'' here in the city on July 12.

Briefing local newspersons on Monday, VCCI secretary Nilesh Shukla said that the unique seminar would be presented by international expert Dr Bhuvan Unhelkar, currently working as chief operating officer in the multi-national Case Digital Inc, California, who hails from Vadodara.

Unhelkar would speak on a variety of issues such as the scope for export of software and hardware and international standards for the same.

Unhelkar said that in the seminar he would discuss the use of the internationally accepted object management group standard called Unified Modelling Language together with a third generation methodological approach called object-oriented process. He said that Vadodara still had great potential to come on the international map in the business because of local entrepreneurs, infrastructure and geographic location.

Dr Unhelkar is the author of ``After the Y2K Fireworks: Business and Technology Strategies''. He is conducting the seminar for free for the benefit of companies from Gujarat in general and Vadodara in particular, Shukla said. Interested participants could get details about the seminar and their registrations for the same done at the VCCI office by July 9, the office-holders said, and added that the seminar would start at 9.30 am at GCEL Auditorium, GIDC, Makarpura.
