VADODARA, July 6: Students of M S University's law faculty have claimed that the visiting teachers teaching them are not up to standards. In a memorandum to Registrar H Bhavnani on Monday they demanded that the teachers be changed.``The visiting teachers who teach us are not qualified to conduct these classes,'' said a student. He alleged that most of these teachers were not even eligible to teach B A LLB students.
The student added that the problem with these visiting teachers was that they were primarily retired judges and there were very few who could take on fresh graduates as understudies. At present as many as 26 people come as visiting teachers.
Faculty dean S N Parikh said, ``We definitely invite only those people who are eligible to teach the students of B A LLB.'' Parikh added that the problem with the students was that most of them did not understand what was the required qualification for a visiting teacher.
``The only problem that the faculty faces at the moment is that we are not getting teachers as per University Grants Commission recommendations,'' said Parikh. He added that the faculty appoints the visiting teachers as per the recommendations of the Bar Council.
``The visiting teachers who come have ten years experience apart from a degree in B A LLB,'' said Parikh. He added that the faculty had to depend on visiting teachers as they were unable to get teachers for the post of temporary lecturers also.
