VADODARA, July 6: Several railway pass-holders have been travelling longer distances in gross violation of railway rules. Season tickets were meant for maximum distance of 150 kms only, said a press release of the Western railways Vadodara division. The release further stated that the pass-holders were getting two season tickets for making journey beyond the stipulated 150 kms and hoodwinking the railways.
Season tickets are issued for suburban as well as non-suburban sections. As per the rules a photo identity card, along with a plastic cover, is issued to every season ticket-holder for Re one. This card apart from the address and name of the person would also contain a number and remain valid for five years.
``It is essential for the passengers to produce this card along with the season ticket otherwise the passenger would be considered as one travelling without ticket,'' said the official. He also added that season ticket-holders were not entitled to travel in reserved coaches and some trains. They were valid to travel in certain trains depending upon the distance.
Season tickets could be renewed three days in advance of the date of expiry.
