Citygritty -- Pune

Rasika and Aishwarya
The Matrix spectacular
For those who would like something grand, the Keanu Reeves starrer The Matrix promises to deliver the goods. This special effects spectacular, doing big time all around, hits the screen in Pune this Friday. Featuring the use of breakthrough effects like bullet-time photography and specialised wire stunts, the film's Hindi version (Mahashaktiman) will also be released on the same day.

Vedic support
The countrymen have come out in support of the soldiers. One such expression of solidarity is the daily ritual prayer started by the inmates of the city's Vedacharya Ghaisas Guruji Vedpathshala Vedbhavan from July 2. Held everyday at 8 a.m. the Manyusukta Japanushthan is recited to invoke the gods for the victory. This is in keeping with a glorious tradition. According to a press release, in 1962 during the Chinese aggression, the founder -- Vedacharya Vinayakbhat Ghaisas Guruji with the help of other Vedic scholars had recited 14 lakh Manyusuktas. ``It is not possible for all of us to go the front. We have to help in whatever capacity we can. As Vedic priests, this is our way of helping our soldiers," says Moreshwar Ghaisas Guruji.

Sisters', a meditation group, has organised the chanting of Gayatri mantra on July 10 at Ram Jog Mandir, Law College Road between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. ``The Gayatri mantra is known to generate an enormous amount of positive energy which when offered to our soldiers will help them to overcome all odds in their way. We want to construct this bulwark of strength,'' says Shilpa Yeldurkar of the organisation. Those interested can contact members on 4338144 and 365356. A little prayer for our troops.
