RS session on Kargil unnecessary, says Naidu

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
HYDERABAD, JULY 6: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday took strong objection to Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad opposing the Centre's proposal to consult the chief ministers on the Kargil issue. The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday.

``Aren't the chief ministers concerned with matters relating to the country's security? In fact, it is on the chief ministers to motivate people in their respective states in bringing the nation together,'' Naidu told mediapersons.

He added that there was no need to convene the Rajya Sabha session to discuss the Kargil situation. It will only result in parties criticising each other, thus lowering the country's prestige in the international community, he added.

The Chief Minister declined to comment on the charges levelled against him by Pradesh Congress Committee president Y S Rajasekhar Reddy.
