Stabbed to death
An unidentified youth aged about 25 years was brutally stabbed to death during the early hours of Thursday on the city's outskirts. The dead body was found by the Umra police under a small bridge over the Kakra Canal running near the Udhna Magdalla Road. Post mortem reports have revealed that the the youth was murdered between 5 am and 8 am today morning. He was killed on the bridge and his body was thrown below as there were blood stains on the bridge, exactly above the spot in the canal bed where the body was found. PSI V I Patel is investigating after registering a murder case.

Robbed by `cop'
Rs 1500 in cash along with a gold chain worth Rs 8000 were forcibly taken away from a man by a person who said he was a policeman on Thursday afternoon. Pravin Kanji Vaghela, a resident of 56/A Bahucharnagar Society, Ved Road, told the Chowk Bazaar police on Thursday afternoon that he was standing beside Asif Apartments at Rajawada area of Saiyyedpura when a youth, aged about 25 approached him and introduced himself as a cop. According to the complainant, he threatened to arrest and beat him up and forcibly took away the cash and chain before escaping.

Suicide
Chandrika Mantu Vasava (42), a woman residing at Navjivan Society in Katargam, committed suicide by consuming poison on Thursday afternoon. Vasava gulped down a bottle of insecticide at about 1 pm today afternoon and was rushed by family members to the Maskati hospital, where she died within half-an-hour of being admitted. Family members informed the police that the deceased was mentally unsound for the past few years. A case under CrPC 174 has been registered.

Missing
35-year-old Naseembanu Munir Kazi, a resident of Olpad on the city's outskirts is missing sice Tuesday night, the Athwalines police were informed on Thursday. Husband Munir Nizamuddin Kazi told the police that she left the house at Kaziwaad in Olpad on July 3, stating that she was going to her mother's house at Momnawaad. After staying in the city for three days, she left and has not returned.
