Pakistani PoW reveals absence of mujahideen

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
NEW DELHI, JULY 9: A Pakistani soldier captured from the Batalik sector has `revealed' that no ``so called mujahideens (holy warriors)'' were involved in the on-going conflict and the Army regulars have been asked to `operate in civil dress', it was officially stated today.

The soldier, Naik Inayat Ali of Five Northern Light Infantry, who was apprehended on July two, told authorities that his ``entire battalion was deployed in the intrusion'' with companies positioned along Point 4812, Point 5068 and Point 4100 in Khalubar, Tharu-Kukarthang and Jubar Hill, an official release said here.

Personnel from Chitral and Bajaur scouts were being deployed as `fighting porters', the release said quoting the captured soldier.

India had come out with clinching proof about involvement of Pakistani army regulars in the Kargil incursions with the capture of Ali, the release added.
