3 die in LPG blast at Goregaon

MUMBAI, JULY 9: Three persons were killed and 19 others injured, six of them seriously, when two liquefied petroleum gas cylinders exploded at a BMC colony on Arunkumar Vaidya Marg, Sector C, near Filmcity at Goregaon (East). The impact of the blast, which occurred at 6.30 am, was so severe that the ceilings of three adjoining rooms collapsed, fire brigade said.People in the neighbourhood panicked and ran out of their houses fearing a bomb had exploded in the neighbourhood.

The deceased have been identified as Kader Sheikh (30), Abdul Razzak Rauf (31) and Farida Kadir Sheikh (13). The injured are being treated at Bhagwati Hospital. Those who are seriously injured are Asif Sidique, Mohammed Sidique and Nasim Sidique. Preliminary investigations reveal that the explosion took place after gas leaked from the cylinder's rubber pipe which had been chewed at by rats.
