PATIALA, July 9: Finance and Planning Minister Capt Kanwaljit Singh today announced that Thein Dam will become operational in ten days after which the state will have enough power for the utilisation for different category of consumers.Talking to newsmen at Circuit House, the minister claimed that with Thein Dam becoming operational, the state will become a power surplus state. And will be able to solve all power related problems.
Regarding the problems faced by the farmers in the state, he said that the government has already discused the matter with the Punjab State Electricity board (PSEB) authorities to provide them with power supply for ten hours for tubewell supply and board authorities had assured that the farmers of the state would get power supply for ten hours to operate the tubewells.
The minister said that the board had also announce to start the volutary disclosre scheme (VDS) from July 15 for all category of consumers and this would especially help people in rural areas.
When his attention was drawn towards the divergent views expressed by him and the Chief Minister regarding the financial health of the state, he said that the state's financial position was healthy due to imposition of expenditure control measures. He said the government has also begun taking important corrective measures.
