KCB vice-president in the dock

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
PUNE, July 9: An employee of the Khadki Cantonment Board (KCB) has filed a complaint with the Khadki police against KCB vice-president Baliram Sawant alleging that he threatened to kill her. Rajamma Jose has sought police protection.

The incident is alleged to have taken place in the office of the cantonment executive officer (CEO) Ajay Kumar on Thursday. The elected members led by vice-president Baliram Sawant had met the CEO to discuss the issue of the stalls located on Moledina Road. Ajay Kumar had issued notices to six stall owners near the Excelsior theatre granting a 15-day period to vacate these stalls since these were a major bottleneck.

The CEO alleged that since the members attempted to intimidate him for sending the notices during the meeting, he called for his personal assistant Rajamma Jose. However, Sawant threatened to kill her and asked her to get out, he alleged. She,however, remained in the room and left the place only after the CEO requested her to go out, he alleged.

Jose filed a complaint with the employees' union and also filed a complaint at the Khadki police station today accusing the vice-president and the elected members Satish Tyagi, Prakash Hiwarkar, D B Yadav, William Smith and Suresh Kamble of charging at her and threatening to kill her. Ajay Kumar said that he would report the matter to the president on Saturday. Baliram Sawant, however, has denied all the charges.
