Prize money cricket tourney

NEW DELHI, JULY 11: The first Jawahar Singh Lohia memorial prize money cricket tournament will be organised from July 17 at Shanti Sports complex (Vasant Kunj) and Siri Fort sports complex (Khel Gaon).

The winners will receive Rs 75,000 while the runners-up will be richer by Rs 41,000, according to the president of the tournament Ramvir Lohia.

Individual cash prizes will also be awarded to the best players. Sixteen teams will participate in this tournament. All the matches will be of 40 overs each side. The tournament will be played on the knockout basis.

Ramjas lose
Despite Paras Gupta's excellent all-round display (50 not out and 3 for 15) Ramjas Coaching Centre lost to Ministry of Environment and Forests by 30 runs in a limited overs match at Ramjas Sports Complex.

Brief scores: Ministry of Environment and Forests: 202 for seven in 30 overs (Rakesh Kumar 53, Suhel Anwer 45, Ratan Lal 40, Mahander Rao 3 for 24, Paras Gupta 3 for 15) bt Ramjas Coaching Centre: 172 all out in 27 overs (Paras Gupta 50 not out, Mahander 30, Soudh Anand 25, Raju 4 for 30, Suhel Anwar 2 for 17, Jagprit 3 for 39).
