Company raided
Sleuths of the Directorate of Anti-Evasion, Central Excise, raided the factory and office premises of a chemical company at Rania, Vadadala and Dabasa, Ankleshwar and Mehsana and at its offices in Vadodara city on Sunday and unearthed central excise evasion of around Rs. 1.5 crore. According to Central Excise sources, the case was being investigated further.

Heavy rain likely
Several parts of the city received a brief spell of rains on Sunday afternoon. Though, the rainfall was too meagre to be recorded in city, the State Meteorological Centre, Ahmedabad, has forecast heavy rainfall in several districts of the State, including almost all parts of Central and South Gujarat till Monday. The government machinery has been alerted, an official spokesman said.

Children found
The Social Defence Office and the police are on the look-out for the guardians or parents of five children, who were picked up from various parts of the city over the past three months. The children two one-year-old boys and three girls between the ages of four and six are currently in the Shishu Suraksha Gruha, Nizampura. None of them know their addresses.

`Cong responsible'
Chairman of Gujarat Minority Board Ganibhai Qureshi has alleged that it was the Congress that had marred the peace during the rathyatra at Idar recently. In a statement issued after returning from Idar, Qureshi said the CM has promised financial assistance for families whose property had been damaged.
