Only Two HVPN centres for payment of power bills

PANCHKULA, JULY 18: The Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam (HVPN) has two operation sub divisions situated in the Industrial Area Phase II of the township, which look after urban estate of Panchkula Industrial Area Phase I and II, Swastik Vihar, Mansa Devi Complex, Panchkula extension upto village Saketri, part of Morni hills, Ramgarh and surrounding villages.But, there are only two cash collection centres for payment of bills, situated in the Industrial Area Phase II. And which have cheque acceptance facilities with Bank of Punjab, Sector 11 only. Residents from faraway places have to come here to deposit their electricity bills every alternate month. Though the residents have been demanding opening of more collection centres at central places, but no action has been taken so far. President, Citizens' Welfare Association, S.K.Nayyar said, ``Though these centres are computerised, but the staff is not well trained to handle computers, which are lying idle". The association has urged HVPN to open at least four additional cash collection counters, and also ensure regular power supply in the township and its surrounding areas.
