2 killed, 3 injured in accident
KHARAR:
Two Kharar residents were killed on the spot, while three others were seriously injured when the Maruti Zen (PB-10-U-5055) in which they were travelling collided head-on with a truck (PUC-4586) coming from the opposite direction on the Rajpura-Ambala Highway at Babror village, about 35 km from here, today morning. The deceased have been identified as Naresh Inder (25) and Anil Kumar (20), both residents of Kharar. Naresh Kumar was married and is survived by his wife and one-year-old child. The injured have been admitted to the Rajpura Civil Hospital. A case has been registered against the truck driver who is reported to be absconding.

Surgeon offers free services to soldiers
PATIALA:
Dr Harish sood, a renowned plastic surgeon, has volunteered to offer free of cost services to the soldiers injured in the Kargil conflict. Sood has written to the military hospitals at Ambala, Chandigarh and Patiala and regarding the same and said this was his way of serving his country in the hour of need.
