Tribals arrested with weapons
The Dabhoi police arrested as many as 26 persons carrying sticks, stones and bows and arrows in two jeeps near the Dabhoi town on Sunday town. According to the Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Dabhoi Division, N Parmar, tribals from Chhotaudepur had gone to Bajwa village in search of a girl of their clan who has been missing for over a week. Their jeep was searched by a police patrol party and they were arrested for carrying weapons. A case under Section 135 of Bombay Police Act has been registered against them.

Dies of burns
A woman who was admitted to the SSG Hospital yesterday with burn injuries died on Sunday evening. In a complaint to the Makarpura Police Station, her father alleged that her husband, who works as a constable at the Makarpura Police Station, had been subjecting her to severe mental and physical torture for the last seven years. He alleged that his daughter had made an attempt to commit suicide by taking poisonous chemicals one-and-a-half year ago as well because of the husband's excesses, but luckily survived. On Saturday, she set herself afire to escape the consistent torture inflicted on her, he said. Investigations are on.

Assault alleged
Dineshbhai Navjibhai Muchhviya, who resides opposite Navi Ramwadi Roses Garden, has complained to the Fatehgunj Police Station that he was assaulted with sticks by two persons last night. According to the police, the two reportedly demanded money from the complainant for purchasing liquor and thrashed him when he could not satisfy their demand. Investigations have been started.
