Classes affected due to coming elections

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
VADODARA, July 18: With the M S University's polytechnic's being selected as one of the focal points for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, regular classes in the college might be disturbed for more than two months.

The college principal has reportedly shot off a letter to MSU Vice-Chancellor Anil Kane and asked him to make some alternative arrangement so that classes in the college could continue.

``The ballot boxes have to be kept at the college after the polls were over and that would mean tight security,'' said a professor. He added that even last year the college had been selected as the stronghold and they had faced similar problems as classes had to be conducted a few weeks before the examinations.

Kane however said that there were few chances of classes being disturbed as not all the classes of the college would be required. The V-C opined that probably three or four classes would be required for the purpose and a tight security could keep it guarded.

District Collector Anil Mukim, however, said the election guidelines were still awaited, but the district administration would try to see that the minimum number of days were wasted and the number of classes used were less.
