CALCUTTA, JULY 18: The State Election Committee of the West Bengal BJP, which met here yesterday, finalised candidates for ten Lok Sabha seats. The decision on the remaining four, Purulia, Burdhwan, Balurghat and Malda would be taken on July 29, when the party's State committee sits to finalise the list for the party's Central Election Committee.Interestingly, the State BJP, which will contest 14 Lok Sabha seats like it did in the last election, is yet to reach a consensus with the Trinamool Congress on two seats, Bankura and Midnapore. Last election, while both the allies went for a ``friendly contest'' in Midnapore, a majority of the State BJP leaders believe that in October, when WB goes to poll, the party candidate will take on the Left and Congress candidates alone. ``And there would be no friendly contest between us and the Trinamool Congress this time,'' felt State BJP vice-president Paras Dutta.
Claiming that the State election committee would sit with its Central counterpart on August 2 to clearthe list, Dutta said: ``As far as these two seats are concerned, we would leave it to the Central leaders to negotiate and reach a consensus with Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee.''
Briefing reporters earlier, the party's State general secretary Rahul Sinha said that this week, both the BJP and the Trinamool would sit together to begin talks on the four vacant Assembly seats, Ashok Nagar, Patherpratima in North and South 24 paraganas, Ragunathpur in Purulia and Shyampukhur in Northeast Calcutta.
