Noah fails to get to the Coe

NICE (FRANCE): Kenya's Noah Ngeny ran the second-fastest 1,000 metres ever at the Nikaia Athletics meeting on Saturday as Sebastian Coe's world record narrowly withstood another challenge.

In calm conditions, Ngeny roared round the track in the French Riviera twilight in two minutes 12.66 seconds, just short of Coe's time of 2:12.18 set 18 years ago in Oslo, the oldest individual record in the athletics record books.

Djorkaeff for PSG

PARIS: French midfield dynamo Youri Djorkaeff could be on his way back to Paris Saint Germain, the club that sold him to Inter Milan three years ago, his brother said on Saturday. Denis Djorkaeff told Le Parisien the World Cup winner will make a decision by Wednesday.

Djorkaeff won the Cup winners cup with PSG in 1996 before moving to the Serie A, where he began well and won a Uefa Cup.
