MUMBAI: Unseeded Bikram Oberoi of India shocked second seeded Will Evans of New Zealand in five games to storm into the boys' under-19 final of the Hong Kong Junior Open Squash yesterday.

Oberoi dropped first two games before recovering brilliantly to post a 1-9, 4-9, 9-6, 9-2, 9-5 victory to advance to a meeting in the final with top seeded Malaysian Mohamed Azian, according to information received here.

However, Oberoi's compatriots, Ishaan Balwani and Naishad Lalwani, made their exit at the semi-final stage in the boys' under-11 section. Balwani was beaten by top seed Ng Kwan Lok of Hong Kong 9-0, 9-0, 9-2 while second seeded Lalwani lost to unseeded Singaporean Marcus Phua 8-9, 1-9, 9-5, 2-9.

India fightback

SHENLEY: India avoided the follow-on yesterday and then got back into the one-off women's Test match as England struggled to 87 for seven in its second innings here.

Chasing England's first innings total of 329, India was bowled out for 201 on the third dayafter a determined lower-order knock from injured batter Arati Vaidya (35 not out).

Off-spinner and former captain Purnima Rau tore through the hosts' middle-order in a four wicket haul to spearhead the Indian fightback.

At stumps, England had a 215-run lead with three wickets in hand and a day to go.

Riders for Germany

NEW DELHI: A three-member Indian team comprising two riders and a coach will travel to Germany to participate in an International Show Jumping Championship to be held at Herford, near Hanover. Young riders Vishal Bishnoi and Aditya Ahuja, alongwith Major NS Rajpurohit (coach-cum-manager) will take part in the meet.
