106 dead in Bihar floods

PATNA: With 10 more deaths reported from Darbhanga, the toll in the flood-hit districts of Bihar has risen to 106. Official sources said 10 people were drowned when a country boat capsized in a rivulet near Bishnupur village in the worst-hit Darbhanga district, where the Bagmati and Kamala Balan rivers crossed the danger level .

Bus accident

SHIMLA: Altogether 21 people, including seven women, were killed and 61 others injured when a private bus carrying them rolled down a 200-ft gorge near Shillai in Sirmour district in Himachal Pradesh Sunday night. While 13 people died on the spot, eight succumbed to injuries while being taken to a hospital.

Cinema hall fire

NEW DELHI: Cine-goers panicked when a fire broke out in the electric metre box of Minerva cinema hall in North Delhi during a screening of the film Khaufnaak last evening. No one was injured, though. The fire was brought under control within minutes, and police and fire brigade personnelimmediately evacuated people.

Bihar firing toll 26

DARBHANGA: With six more bodies recovered today, the toll in Saturday's clashes between police and Army job-seekers in Darbhanga and Chapra in Bihar rose to 26. Darbhanga Commissioner Girish Shanker said 17 bodies were recovered yesterday, while one was recovered on Saturday. He did not rule out the recovery of more bodies from the area.

NSDL cuts charges

MUMBAI: The National Securities Despository Ltd (NSDL), the first share depository to kick off operations, has lowered its charges across the board, bringing them below the rates being charged by Central Depository Services Ltd (CDSL). . CDSL, promoted by the BSE , is yet to achieve connectivity with NSDL.
