PUNE, July 19: History-sheeter Didi Singh and his accomplices allegedly murdered another history-sheeter Dashrath Chinnayya Trawdan (31) in broad daylight at Ramtekdi on Monday. The Wanowrie police attributed the murder to old rivalry.According to the police, Singh is involved in more than 200 cases including burglary, theft, dacoity and rioting.
Trawdan was on his way to his sister's house in Ramtekdi when the incident took place. Singh and his accomplices attacked Trawdan, his relative Sairam Arjun Pillay (29) and his nephew Yogesh Salvraj Pillay (25).
Although police have formally charged six people in the case, Yogesh's brother Vinesh said that there were almost 20 people involved in the attack. He said they came to know about the incident when an injured Yogesh rushed into their home immediately after the attack. ``We rushed to the spot where they had been attacked. There were almost 20 people in the attack and they were armed with swords, axes and crowbars, '' said Vinesh.
Trawdan, Pillay and Yogesh were coming back from Fatimanagar where they had gone to fix up a job for Yogesh in Dubai. All three were on a Kinetic Honda scooter and stopped at the Ramtekdi petrol pump where Singh allegedly held back Yogesh. Trawdan and Pillay who went ahead where stopped by Singh's accomplices who allegedly attacked the two, Vinesh said.
Police said Trawdan was brutally hacked with swords and also received multiple stab injuries while his cousin Pillay was grievously injured. He was admitted to Sassoon hospital and later shifted to Inlaks and Budhrani Hospital. Trawdan who was taken to the hospital succumbed to his injuries.
According to assistant commissioner of police, Wanowrie Divsion, Pratap Dighavkar, Trawdan was also a history-sheeter. ``He had been operating in the Ghorpadi area for quite some time and had been booked earlier by the Wanowrie police.'' The attack was the result of an old rivalry, he said.
Interestingly, Singh and some of his accomplices were arrested by the Wanowrie police on May 2 in a case of rioting. That day he had been involved in a fight with a Raju Namdeo Kekan during a ``friend's'' marriage. According to police sources, both had apparently accused the other of being police informers which had led to the fight. Both parties had filed counter complaints but had been later let out on bail.

The others accused along with him in this case are Chand Singh, Takku Singh, Jallinder Singh, Khanna Singh and Pillu Singh who are all absconding.
