VADODARA, July 19: Notorious criminal Azimuddin alias Salim alias Chino alias Azeem, who escaped from police custody by drugging the escort party after his appearance in the Dholka Court on June 19, was arrested by the Detection of Crime Branch sleuths from Fatehgunj on Monday evening.A resident of Hadgud village in Anand district, and a former student of Bhavan's College in Dakor, Azeemuddin committed his first crime after he burgled the sarpanch's house in Umret village in Anand in 1991.
Having been arrested for the crime, Azimuddin later committed five robberies in 1992 in Anand and one in Kapadvanj after which he was caught and lodged in Kapadvanj sub-jail. However, he escaped by removing the roof of the sub-jail.
He was again caught in a murder case in Kapadvanj in 1993 but managed to escape from police custody in 1995, while being escorted to the court. He then committed a robbery in Anand in 1996 and stole a car from Vadodara in 1997. The same year, he also stole another car from Kheda but was arrested. He, however, ran way from custody by drugging the police escort.
He then stole a motorcycle from Dholka, was arrested and sent to the Baroda Central Jail as an undertrial. He was taken to Dholka to appear in the court in the same case on June 19 when he managed to escape again.
