Bansi Govt in deep trouble

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA

CHANDIGARH, JULY 20: Defeat stared in the face of the Bansi Lal ministry in Haryana as 22 MLAs including 13 ministers today announced their decision to oppose the confidence motion to be moved by it in the 89-member assembly tomorrow.

Bansi Lal was asked to seek a trust vote for second time within a month by July 21 after the 12-member Congress legislature group seeking fresh elections withdrew support reducing the ministry to minority.

Eleven of the 18 ruling HVP MLAs including seven ministers who resigned have already been expelled from the party and allotted separate seats for tomorrow's session, speaker Chhattar Singh Chauhan told PTI here.

Four other ministers and another MLA announced withdrawal of support to the ministry shortly after expulsion of 11 of their colleagues. Three independents also announced withdrawal of their support.

The Congress had bailed out the government during the previous trial of strength after BJP broke away from HVP-led coalition.

Congress Legislature Party leaderBhupinder Singh Hooda announced that his party would vote against the motion.

Indian National Lok Dal leader Om Prakash Chautala and BJP legislature party leader Ram Bilas Sharma also claimed that the defeat of Bansi Lal government was imminent.
