Crime Watch -- Surat

Burns death
One Gunja Sahebrao Shinde (35), a married woman residing at Sanjaynagar slum of Udhna, died on Wednesday afternoon in the New Civil Hospital, where she was admitted after midnight with burn injuries. According to the victim's dying declaration, she was making tea at around 1 am when the kerosene stove exploded. She was rushed to the hospital, where she was declared dead at 1.30 in the afternoon. A case under CrPC 174 has been registered in the Udhna police station and PSI N V Rawat is investigating.

Harassed
A 35-year-old woman and a resident of Ankur Society on the Varachha Road, approached the police stating that she was physically and mentally tortured by her husband. A case under section 498 (a) of the IPC has been registered in the Varachha police station and PSI G B Chavda is investigating the case.

Hit-and-run
Four-year-old Priyank Harshad Dhansukh, a resident of Navsari bazaar area of the city, sustained a fractured leg when he was hit by a scooter at Hanuman Char Rasta, Gopipura on Tuesday night. The Athwalines police, who have registered a case under sections of the IPC and MVA, said that the boy was walking on the road when he was hit by an unidentified scooterist, who fled immediately afterwards. Priyank has been admitted to the Mahavir hospital, the police added.

Burglary foiled
Vadodara: Five armed miscreants, in their early 20s, made an unsuccessful bid to loot the driver of a truck (MP 27 D 6178) and stabbed its cleaner, Lokeshwar Yadav, when he tried to overpower one of burglars near the Golden Chowkadi on Tuesday night. According to the police, Lokeshwar and driver Deen Dayal Singh Beju Singh Yadav were sleeping in their truck, opposite Supreme Roadline office when the five accused tried to open the window of driver's cabin around midnight. But the cleaner woke up and even overpowered one of the miscreants, when another stabbed him in his stomach. The accused then fled. Yadav is undergoing treatment in SSG Hospital.
