Protests against helmets for women continue

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, JULY 23: The members of various Sikh organisations of the city today continued with their protest to criticise the decision of the Punjab and Haryana High Court to make helmets compulsory for women.

The Central Coordination Committee of all gurudwaras and Sikh institutions of the city has already asked Sikh women driving two-wheelers and those on pillion, not to wear helmets "to preserve the sanctity of the Sikh religious tenets". The members of the Sikh Nari Manch, local unit of the Akali Dal, Bibi Bhani Jatha, along with the management of Gurudwara Shri Guru Hargobind Sahib, took out a protest march on two-wheelers without helmets.
