Two held in Alandi triple murder case

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
PUNE, JULY 23: One week after the gruesome murder of a mother and her two children in Alandi, the Chakan police arrested two suspects from Lawale village in Mulshi taluka in Pune district in a night-long operation on Thursday.

The decomposed bodies of the victims, Jayashree Gawde (32) and her kids, Sunita (9) and Yogesh (8) were found on July 17 from their house near the Alandi Nakoda Bhairoba temple. The police forced open the door after the neighbours complained of a foul smell emanating from the Gawde's house.

According to eye witnesses two men had been seen leaving the house on the morning of July 15 on a red motorcycle.

According to the IO (Investigating Officer) of the case, Police Sub Inspector (PSI) Vijay Singh Gaikwad, a bearded man and his accomplice were seen leaving the area a day after the alleged murder. ``We rounded up 15 suspects a few days back and after questioning them we established the identities of the two suspects,'' said PSI Gaikwad.

Acting on the information the police picked up Rajendra Marne on Thursday night. Questioning revealed that his accomplice Ganesh Dnyaneshwar Alad would be visiting the village on Friday morning. The police set up a trap and nabbed Alad in the early hours of Friday morning.

Investigations have revealed that Jayashree was having an extra-marital affair with Marne for the past seven years. ``They had fallen out a few days before the alleged murder,'' said PSI Gaikwad. On July 14 he and Alad came to her house to ask for Rs 20,000 that he had loaned her. When she refused Marne lost his temper and allegedly attacked her and choked the three to death.

The police have arrested the duo and charged them with murder. They were produced in court on Friday afternoon and have been remanded to police custody till July 29. PSI Gaikwad of the Chakan police is conducting further investigations.
