Hindu groups in US close ears and open mouths to Eyes Wide Shut
Recitation of a verse from the Bhagavad Gita during an orgy in Stanley Kubrick's latest film Eyes Wide Shut has sparked off protests from a conservative Hindu group in the United States, the latest in growing disapproval from the community over what some say is the desecration of Hindu religious symbols.

China rounds up 200 protesters
Chinese security forces detained about 200 people staging a sit-down protest in Tiananmen Square today, one day after the government banned a popular quasi-religious sect, witnesses said.

Hijacker held after killing Japanese pilot
A man who wanted to ``soar through the air'' hijacked a Japanese airliner with 517 people on board, stabbed the pilot to death and briefly seized control of the plane before he was overpowered, authorities said.
