BANGALORE, July 23: The merger of Lok Shakti with Janata Dal headed by Sharad Yadav will materialise only after the elections, state Lok Shakti president Jeevaraj Alva said here on Friday.Alva told newsmen that Lok Shakti was concerned over the misgivings following the joint decision of Lok Shakti, Samata Party and Janata Dal to join the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by BJP. ``The decision was to bring the Janata parivar under one umbrella through the new political alignment in view of the current political scenario in the country. It is our look out to wipe off Congress which had been projecting a foreigner as the prime minister,'' he said, adding that the constituents of NDA had vowed to work to bring back a Vajpayee-led government at the Centre.
He agreed that there were small contradictions and confusions within the three constituents of Janata parivar and that was because of the lack of proper understanding on the modalities of merger. ``There are no pre-conditions laid. Thereare no talks of seat sharing. But our commitment to back BJP wholeheartedly in the state and Centre is strong,'' he said.
He said the three parties had made coordination committees at national and state level. The three leaders -- George Fernades, Ramakrishna Hegde and Sharad Yadav -- would work in consultation with the Political Affairs Committee of Janata Dal to discuss and come to an understanding over the merger plan. ``At the state-level we will have myself and Janata Dal president besides 15 members in the committee,'' he clarified.
Stressing that the alliance with BJP was a `tried and tested' one, he stated that there will not be any qualms over seat sharing with that party even after Janata Dal making understanding with Lok Shakti. However, he said all these issues will be thrashed out by the leaders of these political parties by August 3 setting at rest all confusions prevailing now in the three parties.
When asked about the reservation the BJP state leaders have on Janata Dal joining handswith Lok Shakti, he said these are natural and would be solved amicably through negotiations. ``We are ready for any sacrifice as our ultimate aim to bring back Vajpayee as the Prime Minister and that is the only agenda we all have before us,'' he said.
