For moderate Tamils, priority is to stay alive
Constantly under threat from the murderous and fratricidal LTTE, the handful of Sri Lankan Tamil politicians and activists that remain alive and have chosen to live in this country lead a life on the run in an effort to dodge death for as long as it is humanly possible.

LTTE suicide squad stalks Lanka President
The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) have deployed a 10-member suicide squad in the Sri Lankan capital to assassinate President Chandrika Kumaratunga and others, according to a newspaper report on Sunday.

Philippines to buy US wheat, soy
The Philippines is likely to buy around 1,42,000 tonne of wheat by next week to cover requirements for the next four months, traders and industry executives said. They also saw local feedmillers buying 41,000 tonne of US soymeal and soybeans next week if prices dropped from current levels.
