Surat city RJP and Congress merge

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
SURAT, Aug 1: Following the RJP's merger with the Indian National Congress earlier, office bearers and workers of the city RJP and the city Congress formally merged here at a function on Saturday night. The function was marked by welcome speeches, greetings and speeches by local leaders.

Speaking at the function held at the City and District Congress office at Makkai Pool area, councillor Bhupendra Solanki felt that the merger has not only strengthened the Congress, it has also given a setback to communal forces.

Formally welcoming erstwhile RJP city president Narayan Mansukhani with a garland, city Congress president Pratap Kantharia said the merger will go a long way in ensuring the party's victory at the forthcoming elections. He also welcomed all RJP cadres into the party. Others who spoke at the function included GPCC Vice-Presidents Kadeer Peerzada and Thakore Naik and Yuva Congress city president Ashok Pimple among others.

In his speech, Mansukhani said ``We will mix in the Congress like sugar in milk.'' He assured all support to the Congress.
