Mudra sails through, Rama falters

PUNE, Aug 1: Top seeded Mudra Bhagwat had an easy route to the finals, even as second seed Rama Gaikwad rab into troubled waters at the PDMBA organised Poona District Badminton championship '99 here today. Mudra justified her ranking in the mini-girls category as she swept past Rucha 11-0, 11-0 in their semi-finals encounter. This was, however, not the fate of the second seeded Rama, who went down 8-11, 11-8, 11-8 in a hard won upset to Anubhi Kankane in the second semi-final of the same event.Copyright © 1999 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
